Why do telephones, fast food drive thru speakers have bad sound quality?

Why in this world of technology do we still have bad sound quality from drive thru radios and telephones? The sound from those things sound like they have limited frequencies. Why can’t the sound quality be as good as in music recordings?

because fast food restaurants dont care as long as they can take your order and get paid. i’m sure they could invest a nice sound system but they probably want to save as much money as they can too. I’ve actually ate at a few clearer sounding drive throughs.
